Summary:

The primary role of a Recreation Staff member is to ensure the safety, well-being, and enjoyment of campers. This includes supervising and engaging with campers during various activities, such as sports, arts and crafts, and nature exploration. Staff members are responsible for creating a positive and inclusive environment that promotes personal growth and fosters positive relationships among campers.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Supervising and ensuring the safety of campers during all camp activities, including outdoor adventures, sports, arts and crafts, and team-building exercises.
  • Being a positive role model for campers, demonstrating leadership and good sportsmanship.
  • Planning and leading age-appropriate activities that are fun, educational, and promote teamwork and skill-building.
  • Assisting in the implementation of daily schedules and routines, including mealtimes, and a wide variety of recreational activities.
  • Collaborating with other camp staff to create a positive and cohesive team environment.
  • Assisting with administrative tasks, such as camper check-in/out and inventory management.
  • Communicating with parents or guardians regarding camper progress, concerns, and updates.
  • Participating in staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Ensuring adherence to camp rules and safety guidelines.

  • Previous experience working with children in a camp or similar setting is preferred.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing camp needs and schedules.
